BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,9TH JUNE 2017-A Dubai firm Al Ghurair has retained the multi-billion shilling ballot printing tender.
IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati says the Commission decided to hand the contract to the firm due to the short time remaining which cannot guarantee the strict timelines for a normal procurement.
The Public Procurement Review Board had cancelled the tender to the firm, after a petition filed by its competitors who questioned the flawed process used to award it.
Chebukati says they are confident the Dubai firm will deliver on time since the country is only two months away from the main election.
The opposition has since September last year opposed awarding of the tender to the company leading to a lengthy court process.
