BY SAMSON MBII,6TH JUNE 2017-Nakuru all stars through to semi final of super cup after beating Simba SC through penalty 5-4 in the match played on June 6 at Uhuru Stadium in Dare salaam Tanzania. The match had ended with a barren draw
Simba kicked off the match on a high note by gunning a majority of possession. They were threating to score in the first minutes of the game but they were cut short after their man fouled AllStars man 22 yards from goal. Both teams tried to find their way into the area but couldn’t complete the passes since none had totally settled. Pressure was piling on both side as each was trying to outdo each other in the midfield were the ball was often being lost after a quick break.
Simba was pressing hard it couldn’t find the back of the net as all AllStars had everyone behind the goal. Maina Kang’ethe in the 10th minute dashed towards goal with no defender in sight, the keeper came out of his box and Kang’ethe tried to loop over the keeper but his effort was too much and it went over the bar. A minute past the first quarter of the game AllStars had a counter attack but the final touch in the final end went wasted as it was driven out for a corner kick.
AllStars was the better team as it was finding it easy to penetrate the defense of home team but their final touch was poor.
Earlier Gor Mahia defeated Zanzibar side Jang’mbe Boys by 2-0 in the first quarter final staged at the same venue. All stars will now battle it out with Gor Mahia in the semi finals on Thursday 8th June 2017.
