All those who addressed the gathering expressed the need for Kenyans to embrace each other a head of the August 8th general elections.In his speech president Kenyatta urged Kenyans to be their neighbors keeper as the country draws nearer to the general elections saying that God has been gracious to have blessed Kenya with peace and tranquility.
”We must preach peace and unity because Kenya will be here long, long after we are gone”he said.
The head of state also reminded Kenyans of thanksgiving to God especially for having enabled the Jubilee administration to achieve the many development goals since taking over leadership in 2013.

This year event was marked under the Theme “Unity and the National Anthem.
On his part deputy president William Ruto urged kenyans to demonstrate love for one another and reflect on the many blessings God has granted Kenya especially peace.He said kenyans are one people and even after the general elections we will still be one insisting the need for love towards our neighbor. ”Let us be one because even whoever will be elected as the president in the coming elections will be a kenyan”. He said.
Others who spoke include the speaker of the senate,Ekwe Ethuro,the chair of EACC Retired arch bishop Eliud Wabukala, among others. Next year’s national prayer breakfast shall be held on Thursday 24 May 2018 at the same venue.
