Former Devolution CS Ann Waiguru-FILE
BY NAMULONGO PETER ,NAIROBI,24TH MAY 2017-Former Devolution CS Ann Waiguru may after all not run for any public office in August elections after the National Assembly Wednesday unanimously adopted the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report recommending that Waiguru, be barred from holding public office over the Ksh 1.8 billion National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.
The report by the committee chaired by Rarienda legislator, Nicholas Gumbo, easily sailed through the floor of the House after months of probe on the special audit of the NYS accounts over the multi-million shilling scam.
The PAC report has also recommended that Ms Waiguru undergoes a lifestyle audit.
PAC has also recommended lifestyle audit on former Planning Principal Secretary, Joseph Mang’iti, and Senior Devolution Ministry officials named in the NYS scandal.
A friend to deputy president William Ruto Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, could also find himself in court after he, and his law firm, were indicted for ‘abetting money laundering after the law firm transacted large sums of money suspected to have originated from NYS’.
The committee has been investigating the scandal since last year when Waiguru was forced to leave office after the evidence of misappropriations of billions shillings pointed at her.
