BY KORIR JUMA,CORRESPONDENT,NAIROBI,24TH MAY 2017-Five security officers attached to Mandera Governor Ali Roba were Wednesday  afternoon killed by Improvised Explosive Device after their car in a convoy between Arabia and Fino area.

According to  the Governor  who posted through on his  Facebook account moments after  the incident said he is safe but did not divulge further details on whether any member of his team sustained injuries during the 1 pm attack.

This comes barely hours after a night of terror in the same County that claimed 3 lives of security officers.

“I would like to inform the general public that the other leaders and I are safe. Unfortunately, I lost five of my security officers including my personal bodyguard at an attack on my convoy between Arabia and Fino at around 1P.M.We shall give you more details once we are safely back to Mandera town InshaAllah. May their soul Rest In Peace,” reads the post.

According to police, relying on intelligence reports, the terrorists have now split into small groups with key targets at the border towns of Mandera where several incidents were reported last week when four people and a chief was killed.

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet is now urging the public across the country to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security forces, with fears that the terrorists may be out to stage attacks similar to what happened in the UK on Tuesday killing 22 people.
