BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI, 4TH MAY 2017-EACC detectives on Thursday morning raided homes of National Lands Commission Chairman Muhammad Swazuri and other top officials over corruption claims.UPESINEWS.CO.KE has confirmed that the detectivies have managed to obtain several documents from the incident they believe will assist in edging closer to the discovery of truth over allegations of skewed compensation of the Standard Gauge Railway land.
Apart from Swazuri’s home, the detectives also raided the home of the NLC Vice Chairperson Abigael Mbagaya and other top managers.
However there was no confirmation if any of the officials was arrested.
Swazuri has been under a parliamentary committee investigation following a complaint by former journalist Mugo Njeru who claimed he bribed him to facilitate compensation for his prime land.
Njeru and his wife Edith Wairimu accused Swazuri of demanding a bribe of Sh1.2 million to be compensated for their land which the government acquired for the Standard Gauge Railway project.
Swazuri insists that the parliamentary committee did not have powers to investigate allegations of bribery and corruption as the mandate exclusively belongs to the police and EACC.
Swazuri has denied all the allegations leveled against him by the couple.
