Gitura loses to Kangata in senatorial race in Muranga as Wa Iria floors Jamleck

BY JOHN WERU, CORRESPONDENT,MURANG’A, 28th april 2017-Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria will defend his seat on Jubilee ticket in the August General Election after trouncing  his rival Jamleck Kamau in the nominations on Wednesday.

Wa Iria garnered 205,976 votes while Kamau got 119,339 votes.

But four MPs lost in the nominations with Kandara MP Alice Wahome being the only MP from the county who managed to secure the Jubilee Party ticket. Mathioya’s Clement Wambugu lost to Peter Kimari,  Kangema’s Tiras Ngahu was ousted by Muturi Kigano while Gatanga’s Humphrey Njuguna lost to Joseph Nduati.

Sources have also intimated to UPESINEWS  that the senatorial race in Muranga county things were as tight as expected with  former   Kiharu  member of parliament  Irungu Kang’ata  emerging victorious against  his  kigumo counterpart  Jamleck Kamau  both who had  vacated their  seats as MPs and decided to go for other seats.
