Mathare united and Chemilil sugar in barren draw in Thika

 

BY EURIDICE NZIOKA,NAIROBI,26TH APRIL 2017-Mathare United and Chemelil Sugar have shared points in a goalless draw at Thika Sub County Stadium in the Kenya Premier League match ady seven on April 26, 2017.

David Owino scored in the 38th minute but his goal was ruled to be offside after Mathare United had shown signs of fighting against Chemelil.

First half was majorly  a no event phase both sides being comfortable sitting back and rarely venturing beyond their midfield half.

Mathare were awarded two corners but the resultant chances were wasted by Derrick Onyango and David Mwaura, neither were their three free kicks fruitful.

Chemelil was also unable to register something from their two corners and two free kicks too.Laban Gambereko should have put his side ahead in the 22nd minute but was adjudged offside.

Gambereko was pulled out  with Shafan Oyugi entering the mix for Chemelil and Mathare responded by getting in Tyson Otieno in place of David Owino within minutes.

More substitution followed with quick succession with all teams exhausting their substitution and Mathare seemed the side to dominate and dictate the rhythm of the match henceforth.

Chemelil now jumps to position 5 temporarily with 12 points and Mathare join a group of four teams with six points in the KPL 2017 table.
