Kenyans trust IEBC will deliver credible elections-Infotrak

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,23RD APRIL 2017-Results of a survey conducted by Infotrak  have revealed  that a many  Kenyans have  faith  and confidence in the ability of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections.

Infotrak puts confidence levels in the electoral commission at 66.2 per cent, which is credited to the newly constituted IEBC leadership.

Political parties, the police and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution are somewhat trusted at 50.3pc, 41.2pc and 38.5pc respectively.

Central region respondents and those from Eastern region are the strongest believers the elections will be free and fair.

However Nairobi residents are sceptical at 26.4percent.

On the other hand, 72.2 per cent of Kenyans believe the IEBC of will be adequately prepared.

 Central and Rift Valley region respondents are the strongest believers at 80pc and 75.5pc respectively.

However, a third of Nairobi residents, at 28pc, and Coast region residents at 12pc do not think so.

The survey that was conducted between 9-12 April and sampled 1,500 people.
