ODM puts on hold nominations primaries in five coast counties

BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,18TH APRIL 2017-Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has postponed its planned  primaries in the five Coast counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Tana River and Lamu from Wednesday to Saturday 22nd April.

The ODM National election Board says that the move was reached due to unanticipated circumstances.

In a statement, the election’s board chairperson Judith Pareno appealed to aspirants and members in the five Counties to be patient as it prepares for an exercise that will be satisfactory to all.

 Postponed the Nominations
Meanwhile  nominations exercise of National Assembly’s position in Nakuru town west constituency primaries  were put off  on Tuesday  after name of one parliamentary aspirant missed on the ballot paper.

The party’s secretary general Agnes Zani said that the anomaly was caused by technical hitches saying that a new date will be announced.

Elsewhere, the nomination exercise failed to kick off in Olkaria ward in Naivasha after two warring groups clashed before entering the exercise began leaving scores injured and voting materials damaged.

During the Tuesday morning incident, one of the aspirants was beaten up by rowdy youths before he was later arrested by police.

However, the ODM party confirmed that most places went smooth as planned in counties of Trans-Nzoia, Taita Taveta and Nyamira.
