ODM party cancels party primaries meant to start saturday

BY  NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,7TH APRIL,2017-The orange Democratic movement party ODM has cancelled the commencement of  its nomination exercise that was planned  to kick off Saturday 8TH APRIL 2017.The  party primaries for Bungoma, Busia and Machakos counties will now  be held on April 13th .The rest of the counties the exercise will be carried out between the 13th April to the 26th April 2017.There has been a tussle between the poll body IEBC and the orange party on when the party and other parties in the country can officially kick off their nominations.The commission has maintained that the exercise can only start  after the names of  aspirants  from various parties have been gazetted  by 12th April 2017.ODM had wanted to start its nominations as early as 8th April 2017.

The party has also sought to put the records straight concerning the recent move to award certificates of nominations to some of its aspirants. The party says there are no direct tickets in the interpretation that has been made. These were unopposed aspirants and the move was aimed at saving on both time and resources when it comes to actual nominations.

On parallel  tallying center the party through its leader Raila Odinga says there was no need to be affraid since the genuine votes cast at the polling station will be the same tallied even in any other center other than that  set up by the independent Electoral and boundaries commission IEBC.
