850 unopposed aspirants on ODM party ticket receive their nomination certificates

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,3RD APRIL 2017-Seven sitting governors  are among the luckiest politicians  in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) part who have been  given direct nomination certificates. Others are aspiring , MPs and MCA’s   who were handed the certificates at a ceremony held  at the Bomas  of Kenya  in Nairobi Monday 3RD April 2017.The event was presided over by  ODM leader Raila Odinga .

The governors, senators, MPs, Women representatives who have no challengers were given the certficates  will now not participate in the party primaries expected to kick off   on Friday  7th April 2017. The ODM National Election Board (NEB) selected the candidates without challengers to receive the certificates.Some of the members of parliament who were given the ticket are in for  tight competition with a number of rivals in lined up to face the during the elections.Some of them include Emuhaya MP Wilbur Otichillo was given the ticket to unseat Governor Moses Akaranga who will be defending his post on a Progressive party of Kenya ticket while former Kanduyi MP Alfred Kang’ati will be seeking to over through the current  Bungoma governor  Kenneth Lusaka.

Kathee Gwa Kathee got the party’s goodwill to run against Governor Samwel Ragwa in Tharaka Nithi county while Joseph Tiampati Ole Musun will try his guns on vocal Jubilee governor – Samuel Ole Tunai – in Narok County.

Homa Bay County women representative Gladys Wanga was also sanctioned to defend her seat on ODM ticket.

 Senators Stewart Mwadzayo (Kilifi) and Amos Wako (Busia) led a list of 17 aspirants to seeking electorates’ mandate to represent them in the senate.

Former Kenyan envoy to the UN Habitats Sam Ong’eri, who ditched the ruling Jubilee Party for the opposition party, got nod to run for Kisii County senatorial seat.

The seat is current held by Chris Obure who changed camps from ODM to Jubilee Party aiming to use the ruling party ticket to unseat Governor James Ongwae.
