BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,3RD MARCH 2017– Six boys were on Friday charged in court on accusations assaulting their fellow students at Alliance High School.

The students were charged Friday afternoon at the Kikuyu Law Courts following extensive investigations into widespread bullying that led to their arrest.

They were each released on a Sh20,000 cash bail after denying the assault charges read out to them.

Police said the investigations on the matter were ongoing and more arrests were expected in due course.

A detective involved in the investigation told Capital FM News that they opted for the assault charge due to available evidence based on statements recorded from complainants, but revealed that more charges could be filed.

Dozens of parents have been camping at the school since Thursday demanding action against specific prefects accused of bullying and even torturing their fellow students – with some even made to lie on graves of the school’s founders

Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has directed principals in schools across the country to investigate similar claims and take action on responsible students.

“School managements must ensure that they provide a conducive learning environment for children in schools because we will not tolerate any form of bullying,” the CS said in Mombasa Thursday.
