The NASA administration  will ensure that subsidized fertilizer reaches farmers directly & not through brokers as has been the case under Jubilee. He also  said they will dedicate at least 10% of the national budget to agriculture as required globally.Odinga further added that the NASA leadership  will provide high quality and affordable fertilizers to allow farmers feed the nation without imports.”Jubilee has stalled KCC’s return to farmers.

They want to privatize it. Milk producers are paid poorly because of monopoly.Farmers lack technical advice on good agricultural practices & crop husbandry because the Jubilee withdrew agricultural extension officers.Cheap imports by well connected individuals have ensured farmers don’t benefit from their produce”.he said .Odinga lamented that the use of poor quality subsidized fertilizers from government has worsened the problem.

”At the beginning of 2014, maize production in Rift Valley declined to 17 million bags down from 22 million bags in 2012.Moreover, for the last 5 years, maize farmers have posted dismal harvests because of Maize Leaf Necrosis disease”.The ODM leader said

Under Jubilee, a 90kg bag of maize fell from Sh3000 to Sh2,800 due to mismanagement of the agriculture sector.”The Rift Valley is the bread basket of the county with majority of our nation’s food being produced here. Why is our country starving?”
