BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,22ND JAN,2017-President Uhuru Kenyatta has expressed his confidence of continued cordial relations between Kenya and America under the new US president Donald Trump.
Speaking at Sagana State Lodge, Nyeri, President Kenyatta said Kenya expects greater development and continued support from Trump, who was sworn in as the 45th President two days ago.
“We are waiting to see what policy direction the new administration will take towards Africa. But I hope that whatever it is it would be a continuation of trying to consolidate the good partnership that we have in terms of security and development, he said, adding that he hopes this will continue.
This comes even as Trump fired all US ambassadors abroad appointed by former President Barrack Obama, a move that will see up to 80 envoys exit, including US Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec
It is common US policy for politically appointed envoys to resign at the start of a new administration, only that this time they were directed to vacate their posting before new appointees are chosen.
