BY UPESI NEWS BUSINESS REPORTER,NAIROBI,4TH JAN,2017-Dr Ken Tarus appointed Kenya Power acting Managing Director .Dr Ken Takes over from Mr Ben Chumo whose contract expires officially on Friday 6th Jan,2017.

Speaking to the media the outgoing Kenya power Chief Executive officer Ben Chumo has explained to the country many achievements that the company has attained since he took office in 2013. Of importance he touched on increased power mage watts from 1640 in 2013 to 2333 currently.

Another notable achievement is increased number of customers who are able to access power in the country with the figures standing at 5.5 million customers from 2.2 million in 2013.He also says the universal access is well on course with 60 percent of work towards the achievement having been done.He added that he is optimistic that before the year 2020 the country shall be able to witness the universal access.
Chumo says he retires having attained the maximum retirement age of 60 years.On the other side the incoming acting MD Dr Ken Tarus has been a member of senior management team at the Kenya power.He is also a certified public accountant and has an B.A in Business administration among other achievements.He will lead the company untill when the outsourcing of the new MD shall be contacted.The announcement was made by Kenya power Chairman Kenedy Marende.
