BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,JAN 1,2017-Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo has denied claims that he has reconciled with Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga.
According to Midiwo, the fact that he met Rasanga and shook his hand at former Gem MP Joe Donde’s home does not mean that he will now support his re-election bid.
The MP stated that the people who are currently peddling rumors that they have settled their political differences are wishful thinkers because he cannot endorse Rasanga as he does not like his style of leadership.
Midiwo, who was speaking at his Mabinju Village home in South Gem Ward, maintained that he had already decided to either support Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo or businessman William Oduol in the race for the Siaya County gubernatorial seat.
He admitted meeting with Rasanga at Mr Donde’s home during in a family celebration that was also attended by Cord leader Raila Odinga, but clarified that that had no significance because they met coincidentally.
Midiwo took the opportunity to warn aspirants who are eyeing various leadership positions in the forthcoming General Election to stop dragging Raila Odinga’s name into their individual campaigns.
Midiwo instead emphasized that the CORD leader should be given time to look for votes in other parts of the country instead of dragging him into the cheap politics of the county saying this would affect his presidential bid.
