BY UPESI NEWS REPORTER,27TH DEC,2016-Nyamira County Senator Kennedy Mongare on Tuesday launched his bid for presidency in 2017.
The senator said he believes he is the change Kenya needs adding that the country requires a paradigm shift in politics.
Senator Mongare said once elected as the President he will push for a constitutional referendum to transform the Senate in to an upper house for it to be effective.
He further said he will focus on changing the Kenyan foreign policy; deal with unemployment, food security and the land problem.
At the same time, the Nyamira senator clarified that he is not any one’s project, as he warned his competitors of a bruising battle in the coming elections.
However, he will announce later his political vehicle.
Elsewhere, Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has once again called on the Senate not to adopt the controversial Elections law passed by the National Assembly last Thursday.
Speaking in Kakamega County Mudavadi said the Senate has the chance to save Kenyans from shambolic elections next year and avert the country from plunging in to turmoil.
On his part, Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale blamed Attorney General Prof Githu Muigai for misleading the President, saying the six months rule has not elapsed for amendments to be made to the negotiated election laws that were passed in October.
He said the move by the National Assembly contravenes the law.
He said their resolve for mass action come January is inevitable the controversial amendments stay.
