KORIRI JUMA,NAIROBI, 16TH Dec – Audit firm KPMG has been awarded a contract to conduct an audit of the voters register ahead of next year’s General Election.
IEBC Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba who made the announcement Friday morning through his twitter handle says the exercise will start on Monday for a period of 30 days.
Recommendations of the audit report will be forwarded to Parliament as soon as the exercise is completed ahead of implementation.
The Commission has also forwarded to Parliament various concerns on timelines as stipulated in the new electoral law, which he says it has several inconsistencies.
The voter register audit was one of the demands made by the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) during its push for the reformation of the commission.
