BY NAMULUNGO,NAIROBI PETER,DEC 6TH,2016-The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has sacked 127 traffic officers after they failed the police vetting exercise.
According to the commission’s Chair, Johnstone Kavuludi, the 127 were sacked after vetting of 904 traffic officers in Coast, Western, Rift Valley and Nyanza regions.
According to Commissioner Murshid Mohamed, the 127 were sacked over unexplained financial transactions, professional misconduct, operating matatu business contrary to regulations, sending and receiving money from fellow police officers and receiving money from transporters and operators of breakdown businesses.
The vetting exercise of traffic officers now moves to Nairobi, Kajiado, Central, Eastern and North Eastern regions.
Meanwhile, the Commission has reinstated 6 of the 20 police officers who appealed against their sacking after they failed the vetting process.
