BY UPESINEWS REPORTER ,NAIROBI,DEC 2ND,2016-Education cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi has warned of rampant ethnicity in local universities a move he says has greatly hampered the efforts of attaining national integration.Speaking during the 56th graduation of the university of Nairobi on Friday Matiangi said that it was time for all universities to ensure regional balance in all selections of students and also appointment of senior staff. The cs also took issue with the tendency of missing grades among students at the universities saying the problem has brought a lot of mental and even psychological torture among students especially when they just about to graduate .
Matiangi said he shall convene a meeting of all vice chancellors of public universities early next month to found a solution to the problem “it is very sad and unfortunate to see over 600 students not graduating because of missing their marks and grades, there is urgent need to address the issue of accountability”.he said. Over 8,500 graduands were conferred with masters, degrees and diplomas at the ceremony held at the chancellors court.
