Bomet governor Isaac Rutto is receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital after he allegedly clashed with police at Silibwet stadium on Sunday.Rutto who was air lifted to Nairobi this morning after he sustained face injuries is said to have been injured when a police officer threw teargas canister at him when he went to ask for the release of the youth arrested at the stadium before the situation went out of hands , with police lobbing tear gas canisters, one of which hit him on the face injuring his right eye. “He was attending a church service at Njerian AGC, Silibwet Township Ward, when he received text messages of complaints from youths attending a football match at Silibwet stadium.After the church service, it stated, Mr Ruto went to the stadium to intervene and on arrival, a huge crowd gathered around him as he approached the police officers.But police have defended their action, insisting that they acted to separate the rival groups which intended to cause chaos but they have not commented on allegations that they roughed up the Governor who has been campaigning for his Mashinani Party..The governor is currently receiving treatment at the Nairobi hospital.
